Our Approach to Achieving Excellence

We take a deliberate approach to home design and construction but leave plenty of room for imagination and creativity. We call our process the Windward Way because of the preparation, planning, and communication that goes into every step, from the initial discovery to welcoming you to your new home. The connections we make and the creativity we bring to the table are the keys to achieving excellence.

Creating the Custom Home of Your Dreams

It starts with your dream: a picture, a memory, ideas, and inspiration you have collected for your future home. When you collaborate with our team of imagination specialists and designers, we can turn your dream into a reality.

The Beginning

Your journey starts with a meeting with our team where we will get to know you, go over your thoughts and ideas, and review your property. Our discussion will include talking about the features and concepts important to you and your family. During this time, we will listen to you and ask questions to understand how you live, so it is captured in our design.

Your Custom Plan

Our team will begin to create custom preliminary floor and site plans based on the information we received in our discovery meeting. This typically takes about ten business days and, once the plans are ready, we will meet with you to walk through the design details to help you see your custom home taking shape. We will get your input and discuss possible changes, then take those notes to refine the preliminary layout until it is perfect. Once this is done, we will be ready to move to a complete set of plans.

Selections

Our design team will schedule the vendor meetings with you, and these individual components for your home will be incorporated into your final blueprint. You will meet with our cabinet designers and watch your kitchen, baths and laundry room come to life. You will work with our designers and pool vendors to create a 3D vision of your pool and outdoor living space. Additionally, you will visit our flooring vendors, roofing vendors, trim and door specialists, audio/visual specialists and many more skilled professionals to work through every detail of your new home. Your custom plan will change and evolve as we incorporate the actual design elements that will be in your home. Elevations with complete colored 3D renderings will be provided to you that will display every detail. Don’t worry; we’ll be with you every step of the way to ensure all the ideas and details come together!

Contract Signing

All the details, bids and drawings will become part of a highly detailed specifications sheet that will assure you that we have captured every detail of your new home. We will collaborate and communicate with you at every step so that when we sit down to sign the contract, it will be an easy and exciting experience! From here, we’ll be off to permitting, and the countdown to groundbreaking begins!

Groundbreaking

The day we have all been waiting for! We will introduce you to your project manager, who will already be fully briefed on your home and all your selections and ideas. We will schedule a video conference with you if you cannot be onsite. If we are removing a dwelling or rebuilding, this is also when demolition will occur.

Construction

You will be kept up-to-date through notes, videos and pictures from the job site. You will be able to follow along with the progress and timelines in our online platform, as well as stay in contact with your project manager and the entire construction team. We will schedule regular onsite meetings or video conferences to keep you updated, answer any questions and discuss the timeline.

Completion

As completion nears, you’ll meet your Windward turnover team. We will schedule a walk-through, detail and complete any open punch-list items, present you with your homeowner’s manual, review new home warranties and 24-hour service contacts, schedule “pool school,” and turn over the keys to your beautiful new Windward home
